Teacher safeguarding pledge
Last updated 30 October 2026. Version 2026-11.
Every teacher on Music-Ready accepts this pledge before they can use the site. Parents and guardians can use it to know what to expect, and to report a concern if a teacher does not keep to it. Music-Ready does not vet teachers: only accept a teacher you already know.
I confirm I am 18 or over, and no court or authority has barred me from working with children. When I teach or contact students under 18, or other children in their family:
- I will keep every contact professional and about their music.
- Outside lessons that their parent or guardian has arranged, I will contact them only through Music-Ready messages. I will not use phone, text, email, other apps or social media with them unless their parent or guardian agrees, and then I will include the parent or guardian.
- I understand that their parent or guardian can read every message on Music-Ready.
- I will not ask a child to keep secrets from their parent or guardian, and I will not give gifts or favours that single a child out.
- I will not ask for, take or share a child's contact details, photos, videos or recordings unless their parent or guardian agrees and it is for lessons.
- I will not add or follow a student under 18 on my personal social media.
- If I am worried about a child's safety, I will report it straight away from the Report page. If a child is in immediate danger, I will call the police on 999 first. I will also tell the authorities where the law requires me to.
I understand that if I break this pledge, my account may be closed and the concern may be passed to the authorities.
