Questions and answers
For parents
Is Music-Ready free?
Yes. It's free during the private beta, with no card needed.
Does my child need their own account?
No. Children under 18 are added by a parent or guardian. They can use your device (you open their space and leave it with your parent PIN), or, if you add their email, sign in on their own device with Google. Their first sign-in needs a one-time code that only you see.
Can teachers message my child privately?
No. Messaging is off until you allow it, and when it's on you can see every message. You can pause or end lessons with a teacher at any time.
What do teachers see about my child?
Their first name or nickname, an age range (not the date of birth), and the lessons, homework and practice for that teacher's instrument. A teacher never sees your child's other teachers.
What's in the weekly report?
Practice minutes for each day from Monday, this week compared with last week, homework status, new teacher feedback, the practice target if the teacher set one, streaks and badges.
Can I keep a record if we stop lessons?
Yes. Your child's history stays on their profile when lessons with a teacher end, and you can download it from settings.
For teachers
How do I add students?
Create an invitation link on the Students page and send it to the parent (or to an adult student). The parent's acceptance is their consent for you to work with their child.
Can I reuse assignments?
Yes. Save any assignment as a template, start new ones from it, and send one assignment to several students at once. Each student gets their own copy.
How do I review homework?
Students record or upload video or audio. You watch it in Music-Ready and add comments at exact moments in the recording, plus written or voice feedback and optional XP.
Why do teachers need two-step sign-in?
Because teachers see children's information. Two-step sign-in with an authenticator app protects it even if a password leaks. You get recovery codes in case you lose your phone.
Is there a public teacher directory or booking?
Not during the beta. Music-Ready is a private workspace for teachers and the families they already teach.
Practice and progress
What counts as tracked practice?
Time in the Practice Room while the page is open and in front. Practice logged by hand is shown separately and earns less XP. Unusual sessions, for example a timer running far longer than the clock, don't count towards streaks or badges. Days logged by hand do count towards the streak.
Are levels and badges exam grades?
No. Music-Ready levels (Beginner to Maestro) and badges are practice milestones, not exam results or qualifications. Music-Ready isn't affiliated with any exam board.
Does the tuner record my child?
No. The tuner checks sound on the device to show the note and never records or sends audio. In a child's Practice Room it needs the "Practice sound check" permission from a parent.
